Workshop Overview Transcript
Welcome to this brief overview of The Color Code Interpersonal Skills Workshop, our most popular and sought-after course! This overview describes a typical 4-hour training session and what it includes. Specifically, we will discuss three areas:
- Training Objectives
- Participant Materials
- General Course Outline
We'll begin by discussing the specific training objectives of this workshop. Participants who attend this course will be able to:
- Develop greater self-awareness by identifying their Core Motive and, where applicable, their secondary color.
- Ascertain ways to improve specific, professional relationships by understanding how to communicate in the language of all four personality styles.
- Discover new strategies for interacting with others more effectively by learning the natural synergies and points of conflict that exist between the Colors.
Those who attend this course consistently describe it as: "highly engaging, interesting, memorable, relevant, and easy-to-understand and apply."
Next, let's talk about the participant materials utilized in this course.
Each of our workshop participants receives the following five items:
- The Color Code Personality Assessment - This 45 question online assessment takes about 15 minutes to complete. Participants immediately receive results consisting of a 20-page, fully customized description of their unique personality style.
- The Participant Workbook contains course content and key illustrations as a reference guide for participants both during and after the course.
- A Personalized Nametag - The nametag displays a pie-chart representation of how each participant scored in each Color Code category. Consequently, it is an important and engaging part of the course.
- A set of Code Cards - This tool is a pocket-sized quick reference guide to the Color Code. It contains content highlights and tips to help participants confidently apply what they have learned long after the workshop is over.
- A copy of Color Code Live - This audio CD is a live recording of a one-hour keynote speech on The Color Code as presented by the author, Dr. Taylor Hartman. This entertaining presentation enkey illustrations as a reference guide for participants both during and after the course.
Finally, let's quickly go over a step-by-step course outline so that you can understand what concepts will be covered during this workshop.
- We begin with a brief review of a few of the most prevalent psychological models for reading and understanding people.
- We then discuss an important paradigm shift happening in the field of psychology in moving from behavior-based models to an improved motive-based model. We illustrate how knowing why people do what they do is much more significant than simply observing what they do.
- Next, we talk about the Color Code as a motive-based tool. In this section, we explain the significance of knowing your Primary Color, and what impact your Secondary Color might have on your life.
- With that foundation in place, we explore each of the Color Code personality styles in depth. We talk about:
- The Driving Core Motive of each Color, their natural strengths and limitations, as well as their emotional needs and wants.
- We show a fast-paced, multi-media presentation that personifies each Color and gives examples of well-known people of each personality style.
- Finally, we teach how to be more effective with each Color - what to do and what to specifically avoid doing when interacting with them, and how to "speak their language" in order to create desired results by communicating more productively.
Throughout the workshop, participants identify applications to help improve their personal and professional effectiveness.
The Color Code Interpersonal Skills Workshop can be trained on- or offsite and is appropriate for employees in all levels of your organization from the front line to the board room.
